A few months ago I mentioned an interesting example of a scrolling view with a dynamic variable blurring effect inspired by the Yahoo Weather app.
Here’s an interesting project from Justin M. Fischer called Core Background.
Core Background is inspired by the Yahoo Weather app and provides a number of utility methods for grabbing details about a users location, gathering images based on that location from Flickr, displaying images from a set of stock images, and applying a variable blur effect with everything running outside the main run loop and caching built in.
The included example uses these libraries in an example app inspired by the Yahoo weather app providing location based backgrounds and a blurring effect depending on the users current scrolling location.
