It’s very unlikely that you’ll use the stock UIButtons without a custom image or some sort of color customization done with UIAppearance.
Here’s a UIButton called LDGradientButton replacement that works with the UIAppearance protocol, and can be used within storyboards, but adds the ability to further customize the look of the buttons using gradients.
As you can see you can make some nice looking buttons.
