I’ve mentioned the excellent TestFlight service for easily distributing test builds on your app.
Today I came across an excellent open source tool known as AirTest that works similar to the TestFlight service allowing you to easily distribute apps locally using a server running on your Mac with a client running on your iOS device.
A great way to distribute builds quickly to many on your local network, or even yourself if you don’t have the USB cable handy just drop the IPA onto the server interface on your Mac, refresh the app, click the icon, and it will be installed automatically.
Here’s a collection of images from the Readme demonstrating how Air Test works.
You can find Air Test by Rakuraku Jyo on Github here with an Xcode project including the iOS app, and the mac tool.
If you like you you can download a .DMG install file for the Mac server here.
You’ll still need to have the devices provisioned, and build the IPA files. TestFlight has a guide on doing just that here.
A very handy tool to have if you’re distributing builds locally.
