There are quite a few ways to monetize free games some more annoying than others such as banner and interestitial ads, and other methods such as an offer wall only display when the user takes action clicking on a “more games” button.
Today I came across an interesting idea that while not totally unobtrusive looks like it could be another alternative for monetizing games, and apparently some devs have already earned 5 figures from using this service in their games.
The service is known as Kiip, and what they do is present an offer as a reward for specific events such as when a player obtains an achievement. Kiip presents offers to the user it only takes up screen real estate at specific times.
You can register and download the Kiip SDK on their official website here.
Kiip has also created a game development fund currently offering $5000 each to 20 select indie game developers along with other help such as mentoring with the Kiip build fund . You can sign up for the Kiip build fund here.
Kiip looks like a great way to further monetize games without ticking off players.
