One of the great features that has made Cocos2D such a popular game engine is the particle engine allowing you to create customizable particles in Cocos2D.
A couple of months ago I pointed out an example demonstrating how to display particles using a specific sequence of images that can be found on the new Cocos2D tutorial and example page.
One of the features lacking that is noticeably lacking with the CCParticle class that has been asked for is the ability to fade particles both in and out – as it stands now you can currently only do one or the other.
Fortunately, Fabio Rodella has created a nice example along with a short guide and source code demonstrating how to create an extended version of the CCParticleSystemQuad class adding a fadeInTime variable so that you can fade in particles smoothly.
You can find the example code on the Fabio Rodella website here.
If you want particles that fade both in and out you can drop the new extended class right in as a replacement.
