Beginner Phonegap Tutorials: Using The Accelerometer/Maps/Camera And More

For those unfamiliar with PhoneGap (also known as Apache Cordova and for a brief time Callback), Phonegap  is a development framework allowing for the use of native device API’s programming with Javascript/HTML and CSS that works on all the major mobile development platforms including the iPhone and iPad.

In recent times I haven’t mentioned Phonegap too many times on this site, but it still remains one of the more searched for keywords on this site so I have been on the lookout for good usage tutorials – but haven’t found many that really cover Phonegap in any depth.

Recently however, I came across a nice set of tutorials covering the basics for you to begin developing many different types of apps using Phonegap.  It’s definitely the best freely available set of tutorials I’ve seen so far on getting started with Phonegap development for the iOS platform.

Here is a summary of the covered topics:
– Downloading Phonegap
– Installing Phonegap in Xcode
– Deploying to device
– Using the accelerometer
– Using the camera
– Using local storage
– Using the location API
– Interface creation basics
– Downloading and Processing a JSON feed
– Displaying Maps

The tutorials are by Shaun Dunne and you can find them here.

Perfect if you want to get going with Phonegap for development on the iPhone and iPad.
